I'm Back!!!!

Hello everyone xxx
Sorry it has been a while since my last blog but our whole familys' lives have just been turned upside down.
Our daughter Molly - aged 9 was diagnosed with Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes on the 4th October. This means that her pancreas no longer produces insulin so she will be insulin dependent indefinately.
When we were told by our GP it came as such a shock to us as Molly was such a healthy child - gaining a place in our local swimming club just a week before diagnosis!!
We were immediately rushed to hospital where Molly & I spent three days trying to adjust to the new life that lay ahead of us.
Molly, without doubt, is the bravest girl I could ever hope to meet. I love her to pieces and I am so proud of her. She has taken this on board like a true star and although we have moments of frustration she really is going about her daily life just like she did before the news.
My other three children have been equally as brave!!! They have been backwards and forwards to hospital at all times day and night and been looked after by countless numbers of people. I love you all too!!!!
Myself and my husband have taken a little longer to adjust - but we are getting there. I think it was because it came as such a shock that is why it has knocked us for six.
Anyway at times like this, I have to keep myself busy so I have been tidying, sorting and re-organising all of my china in the house. A 4 hourly blood testing regime throughout the day has meant that I could not venture to far away from home/school so gave me time to finally do all of these chores.
I hope you have enjoyed a little peek into my china collection.

Bye for Now
Kerry xxxx

  4. Poor Molly, well poor all of you. It will take time to adjust but working with people with diabetes it does get easier to cope with.

    Best wishes xx

  5. Oh, Kerry. I'm so sorry to hear this. My sister has type 1 diabetes and was diagnosed when she was 11 and it has never affected her life. My niece also has it. I'm sure Molly will take it all in her stride. Lynda xx

  6. My thoughts are with you all and my admiration for your very brave daughter. Children are so resillient and really surprise us at times like these. Good Luck for the future I am sure in time you all will cope with this and life will get back to something like normal.

  7. Oh that is huge life change and it's always so hard to except the big why.
Our mimi last year had a seizure and they did not know what caused it and as seizures go they are quite common but this one they could not get her to stop seizing and with that can come brain damage. So for the last year my hubby and I were on pins and needles and they said if we could make it one year without another she would probably never have another.
Praise the Lord we made it....but yours is for life she is so fortunate to have such loving thoughtful caring parents! thinking of all of you.

  11. That is terrible news, our Niece has type 1 and it is a nightmare but like you more for my Sister in Law. My Niece has dealt with it great too, gotta love kids. She is getting a little fed up now though as she is getting older she wants to do it all herself but still needs help.
I hope that things run as smoothly as possible for your little girl and the family.
    Big Hugs x

  12. What a terrible worry for you. I do know the feeling; all is not well with the world when all is not well with your child. As other people have said, children are extremely adaptable and I have no doubt Molly will be absolutely fine. She's just a little extra special.

Make sure you take care of yourself too.
